Back to France

On Thursday we headed back to France and sailed approximately 35 nautical miles to the incredibly quaint town of Omonville-la -Rogue.

The wind was a steady 10 knots at our backs and although the seas were confused by the strong currents, Michael trimmed the Solent, the Staysail and the Main for a relatively smooth ride.

Sailor tip: in light wind, anchor if you can in Omonville-la -Rogue as the visitor moorings are very hard large cones that sort of bang into the boat all night long – this made for a terrible night’s sleep, filled with worry for us.  That said, this seaside town, complete with stream running through it, is so beautiful that it is worth the stop.

On Friday we headed back to Cherbourg – another beautiful and smooth sail, beam reach the entire way. I think we were all feeling the bitter sweet sting that the last night of vacation can bring.

Back in Cherbourg, Joshua and I joined the Friday night scene on the city streets for a bit while Michael ran through Gerty’s punch list with Henriette from Allures.

And for our final dinner in France we got a little adventurous.  Only way to eat the shrimp was antennae and all.
