Taking Care of Business

We’re in The South.  Although they call it the Northern Chesapeake, anywhere with the three C’s- crab pots, cranes and country music is The South to me.  It’s a refreshingly pretty place for us to prepare for our trip to Antigua.  Yes, we are very excited!  And yes, it is very complicated with COVID.

Boat bling is the term I use now for pricey items that make me feel luxurious, like our new lithium-ion batteries.  Aren’t they fabulous?

I know my girls back in New York could never understand the joy of being able to use the hot water heater and the electric teapot at the same time, but I love you ladies all the same.  It was great to see you and I was happy for our detour down Long Island Sound, which led to our earlier than planned visit to Gallin Beeler Design Studio, Michael’s architecture practice, and Irvington, our hometown of twenty plus years.  At one point our weather report was following four hurricanes at once – Paulette, Sally, Teddy, and Vicky.

So after a fun visit with Tracey and Sammy in Sag Harbor, and a great sail with John & Stacey out of Three Mile Harbor, we ventured away from the notorious hurricane gang and into safer water.

So, here I sit, thankful to be safe and sound in the Chesapeake Bay where I feel a sense of belonging with our fellow sailors heading south.  We are taking care of business – writing, working, upgrading, repairing, preparing, learning, reading, relaxing and, well, living . . . on a sailboat.

Last remarks:
