There was a hurricane outside, and now there’s a hurricane inside. After threatening us from Narraganset Bay to the Long Island Sound, Lee has finally let us be, but the whirlwinds of boat work are still dizzying us.

Michael has been sanding virgin gel coat for hours. Before that, he was fiberglassing for days.

Two major projects are going on. One is the overhaul of the engine compartments, starting with gel coating the new G10 hatch lenses. This project is the first of many improvements with the end goal of making the compartments watertight. The other project is the starboard side bathroom renovation, including a new electric head, holding tank, leak resolution at a failure point in the forward salon window caulk, and installing a Fastmount ceiling. Honestly, I can’t believe I just fit the second job into one sentence— it’s that big!

Thankfully, before the 30+ knot winds, rain, and exhaustion from sanding (Michael), New York gave us crisp fall days with bursts of blazing sunshine, an impressive new train station, the ultimate NYC cultural experience, bagels, farm fresh macintosh apples, and the people we love.
