Final test day with Pete from Swiftsure

Another great day of sailing as we continue to test all the systems.  I want to give a big thank you to Pete from Swiftsure Yachts who has been terrific during these initial days of orientation to Gerty.  He has been tireless (almost) and seems to really have our interest at heart.  We highly recommend Swiftsure Yachts for any boat brokerage needs.

  1. Looks and sounds like an awesome boat – I hope to buy one in the (far) future ;-D
What make you choose an Allure over Alubat/Cigale?
(Looking foreward to more ‘reports’ on how the systems performe)
    Best regards

    1. We chose the Allures 45.9 over Alubat / Cigale for a few reasons. Cigale was not in the running because we wanted a centerboard. This was a good decision for us as we have been thrilled to have a shallow draft on numerous occasions. At the time we were shopping, Alubat had some financial troubles which made us uncertain about their future. Additionally, their designs seemed a bit dated and their US presence was even more limited than Allures.

We did consider Boreal and Garcia. However, both were more money than we wanted to spend and a bit more “expedition” centric than we felt we needed. Allures became the unique option in term of price, aluminum hull, center board, good design, and apparent financial stability.
