“Best Blog Entry Ever”

Pay attention cause as promised this is “The Best Blog Entry Ever”.

The crew: Leslie (hot pink bikini top, matching shorts, matching hot pink lipstick, grocery bag of yummy stuff), Jack (teenage garb, phone, sunglasses), Charlie (tweenage garb, phone, sunglasses), Joshua (teenage garb, phone, sunglasses), Michael and I.

We sailed almost nowhere and it was perfect. The kids were laughing, swimming, paddling, tanning (I don’t think the phones came out once).

As usual when we get together, Leslie and I were loud, shrilly, filled with excitement for the shear chance to tell them the wildest childhood memories we could think of. Then they would share their own tales, likely embellished in that stretching the truth kind of way. We all ate up each others stories. The giggles well up even now when I hear Jack and Charlie in my head, telling Joshua how panicked I was, screaming down a waterslide the day before at Splish Splash. The space between California and New York did not exist for five hours and geography was finally as it should be.

It ended abruptly with a salty, sun drenched nap- now really- is there anything better than that?

Things broken: outboard engine. Charlie and Joshua zoomed away and paddled back, most likely because there wasn’t enough gas (oops)

Things fixed: outboard engine

  1. You didn’t even tell me that you posted these photos or this blog. I was actually upset that you never did and decided to just check out some Gerty photos and found this amazing post. Thank you! This was the BEST day of our summer (and we had an amazing summer so that is really saying something!). Jeremy was so sad to miss all the fun but the boys and I wouldn’t have missed this day for anything. Your boat is beyond spectacular. It is incredible!!! And you and Michael and the best hosts (and sailors!). We were all blown away by how much you learned and how skilled you became so quickly. It is such an adventurous and romantic life you have carved out for yourselves. Suffice it to say we are very jealous. As much as we are obsessed with your boat the best part of the day was spending time with you, Michael and JOSHUA. We were thrilled that he was able to join us. We just love him. Counting down the days until our next journey aboard Gerty. Love you so much. Your BFF forever and ever. Leslie

    1. Come back!!! Miss you already! Love that you see us as skilled, adventurous and romantic when I wake up on the boat and see a ridiculous amount of crazy sailor’s hair on my head and a slew of multicolored ropes that require large amounts of coffee for me to process. Seriously, can’t wait till you come back! Lots of love . . .

      1. okay, when can we come back?????? name the date and we will be there. although it is a long way off we will be in NY for spring break and sometime over the summer so please save some room on Gerty for us.

love you love you love you
