General Information – Outremer 49

Gerty (2023-present) is an Outremer 49 assembled in La Grande-Motte, France in 2011 by Outremer Yachting.  She was hull number 14 of the 49 model.

She was designed by Ch. Barreau and F. Neuman with interiors by Franck Darnet.  She was designed to safely cross oceans in comfort.  Along the coast she can explore shallow areas with her minimum draft of 3.28 feet (1m).  This is possible because she has lifting daggerboards.  With a daggerboard lowered, her draft is 7.7 feet (2.35m) allowing her to pinch up wind.

Her fiberglass hulls were built to 49 feet (14.93m) long.  However, the previous owner added swim platform extensions at her sterm and her current length is 51 feet (15.55m). Her beam is 24.44 feet (7.45m).

Gerty was a 4 cabin version of the 49.  The previous owner converted the Starboard forward cabin into a storage / utility room so she currently has 3 sleeping cabins.  She has two heads plus a sperate interior shower room.  An 800 AH lithium-iron-phosphate 12V house battery array is primarily charged by a 1320W solar array.  Additionally Gerty has  800W of removable solar panels for her trampolines.  A large inverter provides 120V power when needed. She has an efficient plumbing system with fresh or salt water heads, rain collection, a 32gph water maker, and 48 gallon (182L) capacity of gravity discharged waste water holding tanks.

Gerty is also unique with a custom hard bimini which provides a protected exterior helm possition.
