Worthy of Multiple Passes
September 2
Aunt Jill and Uncle Michael enjoy a day of rest. Absolutely beautiful end of summer sail to Port Jefferson Harbor. Sunset, time to read a book, dinner under the stars, the whole shebang!
September 3 Labor Day
I would not have described myself as a ‘return customer,’ before this week, but I’ve learned that these wonderful places we visit most definitely are worthy of more than one pass. This time in Port Jeff we discovered the perfect work out: 1.5 mile down hill run in a shaded neighborhood that leads to walk back on a deserted beach. The only thing missing was a coffee shack! Of course I did have to run straight up a sand mountain at the start – life can’t always be down hill.
The captain has been busy doing morning boat projects. Aha! The bow thruster IS all clogged up! That explains the very weak thrust we’ve been noticing. Michael did some snorkeling/scraping/scrubbing to get the barnacles off the bow thruster propellers, but he says next season anti-fowling paint on the props will help the situation.
It’s true, I do have to go back to work tomorrow. But I just looked online and google says that the end of summer isn’t until September 22. So even though it’s Labor Day and even though I have to go back to work, I’m going to hold out for more.
