The Boat Show
We had a few great days at the Annapolis Boat show. While Gerty was on display, Swiftsure accommodated us in a room in the house they rented. We had two intense days visiting booths and boats. We also met many great people.
Once she was done being a model, we stayed on Gerty. I always love the Sunrises from the boat.
After the boat show Swiftsure ran several boat tests for the media and prospective buyers. Unfortunately there was not much wind. The 4.4 knots shown below was about as good as it got.
Even with light wind, it was fun to be out on the water with all the other boats being tested.
One of the boats we were impressed with at the show was the Amel 55. It is an intelligent design, although very different than Gerty. On the day of the test sail we found ourselves on the same point of sail with the Amel. They kept putting up more sails, eventually four in total. I am guessing they were trying to make her go faster? Yet, we easily past them on a beam reach. I was surprised Gerty could outperform the bigger Amel in light wind without a light wind head sail. She continues to surprise us.
