Block Island – Again
Block Island Harbor is full and fun. Giant American flags are hoisted on the masts of several boats reminding us that the calendar still exists. I think, “What is the most relaxing thing we can do this morning?”
“You’re not gonna believe this,” Michael says. Now this has got my attention – a coffee and donut boat is delivering! Too funny.
After the donuts, we decide to go for a paddle with absolutely no destination in mind. On the paddle we get a good laugh at how the big motor yachts follow the anchorage rules.
The paddle turned into a long walk, and then another paddle. Then some relaxation while Michael finished the stern anchor roller installation.
Before we knew it, evening had come. We broke out the barbecue for kebabs and enjoyed some homemade bubbly.
With the next day there was more to do. Block Island bike rides never disappoint and today was no exception.
We road to the North end lighthouse and then hiked the Bluff and Maze hikes. Baby seagulls were a natural treat and the views were breathtaking as always.
In the afternoon there was a nice wind, 14 knots SSW, so we decided to catch the breeze and head northwest to Fishers Island earlier than planned. This time of year it is smart to catch favorable winds to head west. They tend to be fleeting and we really don’t want to have to motor all the way back to New York.
