All Covered Up
It is so nice when you deal with a professional!
For a variety of reasons we decided that we were against wrapping Gerty in plastic and then throwing all the plastic away in the spring. So, we ordered her a canvas blanket.
We took a bit of a risk and hired Jim Welinski from Shipshape Products, out of Duluth Minnesota to make the cover. Our logic was simple, they must know how to make a good winter cover in Minnesota. Plus, I have played hockey with many Minnesotans over the years and have always gotten along with them well.
The risk payed off. Jim visited Gerty at the beginning of November to template her, in the dark, with an approaching weather front. Three weeks later her cover arrives in the mail…and, it fit…and, it is extremely well made!
It took about four hours for me to do the final boat preparation and install the cover. I did this by myself. It would have been faster with two people. Also, at least half the time was spent preparing all the lines. Next year the lines will be ready to go and the installation will be much faster.
I highly recommend Shipshape Products if you need a boat cover. Now I can’t wait to take it off again in the spring!
