Between Two Worlds
My first stop, after landing sans Michael in New York, was my Mom’s house. There I relished some much needed mother/daughter time with Grandma Polly. Her talented hairdresser, John, turned me from sailor to city-slicker in forty-five minutes. Ooh la la!
Poor Michael was struggling with our windlass, while I was busy pampering myself. Many thanks to the hubby for sacrificing his own hairdo for a very important boat maintenance project!
I got to see ‘the girls’ in Irvington for superb coffee talk before heading up to Boston, where I picked up Michael at Logan. We headed straight for the main attraction there- Zachary!
We got to visit with Uncle Todd and the gang, walk along the Charles River, and go ice-skating. Zachary even cooked us dinner one night- pad thai!
In DC, the cherry blossoms were in bloom and Elaine taught us how to play pickleball. Although I was disappointed by the misnomer (I love pickles), the game was surprisingly complicated and fun. Overall, we had a great visit with John, E, Alice and Mick.
The lure of friends and family brought us back to New York, where the temperature dropped below 30f (-1C), giving us the perfect excuse to lounge in front of a warm fire all day while playing games and eating birthday cake with Grandma Polly.
Thereafter, spring weather returned, making it possible for us to visit more friends over the weekend.
And, spend a sun-kissed Sunday in Central Park with Zachary. It meant so much to the three of us to see our city coming back to life after COVID. 3 million vaccines per day and counting, woo hoo!
In Florida, we filled up our hearts and bellies with Papa Mark, Janet and Bonnie. Healthy doses of art, dessert and champagne should carry us through the next few months until we arrive in Europe!
¡Gracias a todos por todo! Thank you to everyone for everything!
Thanks for sharing your visits and beautiful photos! How nourishing to spend time with family and friends ❤️❤️
I’m absolutely loving all the pics on this post… makes it all look like one big happy fairy tale. So, great memories and happy times which I hope continue as you and Gerty continue your journey. I do need a translation of the Spanish, although definitely get the gist of it.
And… I guarantee you that during the time you both spent with me… the pleasure was all mine!
cut and paste into google translate if you want to read the spanish, and thanks! It was a great visit:)
Talking to you right now on the phone and of course you sound like you’re next door. 🥰 it’s so good to hear your voice and was totally awesome to see you in real life and hear all of your wonderful stories. You both look awesome and very happy and relaxed.
