Rhode to Wye to St Michael’s
Wednesday morning we ran at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center.
Then, we sailed about 20 nautical miles from Rhode River to Wye River. TWS 12-17 knots NNE.
Our destination spot at N 38˚52.10’ W 76 10.45’ was simply beautiful, with a large ketch to our port and a smaller sloop to our starboard. The stars were out in full glamour, as if it was the Academy Awards.
Today, Michael is happily futzing now for about 3 hours. He has hung the toilet direction sign, the coastguard mandated oil and trash signs, fixed the head door knob, reorganized several stowage areas, lined the cabinets with non-slip rubber, hung an emergency knife and ordered Joshua a new computer. I have done a deck top aerobic dancing session (giving our floating neighbors a good laugh I’m sure), made coffee and drank it.
Ok, that’s not entirely true. I also read Theboatgalley.com for about an hour and a half.
The TWS is 18 knots NNE, it’s a gloriously sunny 78 degrees, and Michael and I know it is a perfect day to be a sailor. We test every point of sail and reef too. We anchor for a long walk on Wye Island and then make a last-minute decision to sunset sail to St. Michael’s port.
